Thank You

Thank you for showing up today.

Thank you for putting the work in.

It means a lot.

And you didn’t have to.

I’m sure you’ve looking around and noticed that not everyone is making the effort anymore.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that there’s more and more pressure to do the easy thing, get the instant gratification and think only for yourself.

Thank you for not falling for that charade.

The world has started to mistake comfort for happiness, and encourage you to take the easier path.

It’s telling you to stay home, sit on the couch, play some video games, maybe smoke a little weed, and wait for your comforts to be met. And yeah, it’ll encourage you to wake up with a cup of coffee and go to bed with a drink in your hand.

But that’s not for you. Not that life. You know that that ‘easy’ path is really the much more difficult one. That path comes wrought with its landmines of depression, anxiety, insecurity, and meaninglessness. You know that. So you’re making the effort, and living on a bit of faith that the effort alone makes your life better. And it does.

So thank you.

Thank you for having the nerve to do the hard things. For having the perseverance to get yourself up when you fall and to do your best to keep your head up, take accountability for your digressions, and own up to your mistakes.

Thank you for allowing yourself the space to have the hard times, the bad days, the ruts and dips in your life. You know that it’s the dip that creates the value on the other side.

You are creating a better world.

That bit of effort that you’re putting in to keep a smile on your face. The work that you’re putting into learning your lessons, the hard and the easy. The way you do the extra little bit when no one else notices. We notice. So thank you.

We don’t say it enough. You don’t hear it enough. You don’t do it for the thanks. You do it because it’s the right thing to do. But that’s all the more reason that you should be appreciated for it.

It’s so much easier to hide. So much more comfortable to not give a shit. So much more pleasing to escape.

Thank you for doing the hard work. For yourself and for those around you. Your lighthouse sets a beacon for all of those who know you, who interact with you, for those whom you touch.

So, yes.

I’m just sending you thanks. The thanks that I wish you got every day. The thanks that I wish were quicker to come to my lips.

Thank you.
